About Us
The Hampshire Property Management Group (HPMG) was formed in the summer of 1995 by Rich Madowitz and Russ Jopson. HPMG is a full-service commercial, residential and condominium property management company based in Northampton.
The Hampshire Property Management Group consists of eight full-time employees with over one hundred years of combined property management and construction/maintenance experience. We have the ability to handle a wide range of building services for condominium communities, residential properties, retail, office, mixed-use and commercial buildings.
The mission of the Hampshire Property Management Group is to provide condominium associations and property owners with access to what we term as “the next generation in property management.” To assure responsiveness, virtually all your property management issues will be handled by the principals of Hampshire Property Management Group. Our goal is to maintain and enhance property values and exceed your property management expectations. Richard M. Madowitz, Owner/Property Manager
Rich has twenty-five years of commercial and residential real estate experience working as a real estate officer at Monarch Capital Corporation, Heritage Bank for Savings, and Hampshire Commercial Properties. At Monarch, Rich’s responsibilities included the acquisition, project development, asset and property management of a $200 million portfolio of commercial and residential properties. As the Special Assets Manager for Heritage Bank, Rich was charged with building a network of property management companies and real estate brokerage firms throughout New England. Rich was responsible for property management, asset management, and the disposition of a $35 million OREO (Other Real Estate Owned) portfolio. Currently Rich manages the commercial portfolio of HPMG, including Thornes Marketplace, 78 Main Street and the Fitzwilly Building in Downtown Northampton, and properties in Hadley, Hatfield and Holyoke.
Russell B. Jopson, Jr., Owner/Property Manager
Russ has fifteen years of real estate and banking experience. As Assistant Treasurer for United Cooperative Bank, Russ’ responsibilities included the production of detailed financial statements and the analysis of a large investment portfolio. At Heritage Bank, Russ was charged with the financial administration of an $80 million special assets portfolio. In addition, he was responsible for the management of 50 residential units in the Springfield area. In 1997, Russ received the Association Management Specialist designation from the Community Association Institute. Currently, Russ manages the following condominium complexes: Alvord Place, Dartmoor, Harvest Valley, Parc Place, Parc South, Pomeroy Village, Strong Farms, and Waters Edge. He also supervises the management of the Smith College residential and commercial properties and manages approximately 65 residential and commercial units.
Laura Varney, Office Manager
Laura has over ten years of experience in all aspects of office administration. Laura possesses excellent customer service and communication skills. She brings a wide spectrum of skills to the company including administrative, accounting, creative problem-solving, and the ability to interact with many different types of people. Her organizational skills keep the office running smoothly.
Patricia Taylor, Senior Property Manager
Pat has over twenty years of experience in the property management industry and has worked with several large Boston-based management firms. Pat has provided management services for over three hundred condominiums in Northampton. Before joining The Hampshire Property Management Group, Pat had been president and owner of Valley Real Estate Management since 1987. Pat manages the following condominium complexes: Fairway Village, Pines Edge, Randolph Place, McCormick, Meadowland, Millbank Place One. She also manages over 50 residential units.
Maura Manijak, Property Manager
Maura has had the responsibilities of office manager and assistant property manager since her employment began with Hampshire Property Management. Prior to HPMG she had extensive experience with customer service. Maura’s experience with condominiums began with her employment at Appleton Corporation as an accounts payable associate and maintenance coordinator. Maura understands the unique needs of condominium accounts and has recently begun to manage her own portfolio of properties. Maura manages the following condominiums complexes: Amity Place, Old School Commons, Brookside, and Promenade on the River. Maura's largest account is the Smith College off-campus residential and commercial portfolio.
Jeanne Harlow ARM, Property Manager
Jeanne has over twenty years in the property management field and was the former owner of Harlow Properties managing over 1800 residential, commercial and condominium units in the greater Hampshire, Hampden and Franklin County area. She has earned the designation of Accredited Resident Manager (ARM) through the Institute of Real Estate Management. Jeanne currently manages the 221-227 Main Street Condominium Trust, Brook Hollow Condominiums, Eastview at Village Hill, Echo Hill Townhouse, Emerson Court Condominiums, Graves Avenue Condominiums, Olde Towne Commons, Upper Orchard I, Upper Orchard II, and Yankee Hill Condominiums. She has recently taken on a Homeowners Association in Northampton as well and she manages a portfolio of residential properties.
Diane Jurkowski, Financial Administrator
Diane has eighteen years of bookkeeping experience with fifteen years as part of the HPMG team. Diane is a detail-oriented team player who is extremely proficient with the property management software we use. Diane handles all of the financial information for the properties we manage. If you are an owner or tenant and have a question regarding your monthly payment, you may contact Diane for confirmation of receipt, balances due or assessments that have already been charged to your account.
Cindy Jopson, Assistant Financial Manager
Cindy brings five years of office management experience to the company. Cindy has excellent interpersonal and bookkeeping skills that blend with our own property management philosophies. Cindy assists all property managers with daily routines. Cindy is responsible for issuing 6D Certificates for condominiums. She processes rent checks and bank deposits and can be contacted for information regarding your monthly condo or rent payment.
